Essential Admission Information for Students

  • IS IT NECESSARY TO HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA TO ENROLL IN THE THE FASHION DESIGN UNDERGRADUATE 3 YEAR PROGRAM?
    We recommend to have a diploma, equivalent to the CBSE, International Baccalaureate, American High School Diploma, GCSE A-level, AS-level, UAE Tawjihiyya or other “Grade 12” equivalent in order to be awarded the Diploma Styliste Designer Mode issued by ESMOD France which is comparable to the Bachelor Degree in France.

    WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE AND THE MAXIMUM AGE PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT?

    The minimum age for ESMOD students is 17 years. There is no maximum age limit.

    IS THERE AN INTERVIEW AND AN ENTRANCE EXAM PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT?

    An entrance questionnaire is required for the Fashion Design Undergraduate Program unless you have already followed a fashion workshop program at ESMOD Dubai.

    IS IT NECESSARY TO BE FLUENT IN ENGLISH TO ENROLL ?
    Yes.
    For those who need to undergo an english test, the minimum required are:
    TOEFL average is 61/120
    IELTS average is 5.5

    CAN I TRANSFER MY EXISTING SCHOLARSHIP TO ESMOD DUBAI?

    CAN I TRANSFER MY CREDITS TO ENTER DIRECTLY TO THE SECOND YEAR OF THE
    FASHION DESIGN UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM?

    ESMOD Dubai only accepts transfer of credits from ESMOD students transferring from another ESMOD branch. However exceptions can be made upon portfolio review, taking into account the course descriptions from the institute attended. To further assess the student’s knowledge and skills additional exams might be requested.

    WHAT IS THE LATE REGISTRATION DATE FOR ENROLLMENTS?

    If seats are still available:

    3 years program: 1 month after start of class

    Workshops: 1 weeks after start of class

    Summer Workshop: 2 days after start of class
    Please note, ESMOD Dubai assumes no responsibility to add extra lessons or provide additional instructional time if a student enrolls after the official start date.
  • DO I NEED A RESIDENCE VISA TO STUDY AT ESMOD DUBAI?
    As required by the UAE law, all non-national students (except GCC nationals) are required to obtain a Student Residence Visa for the duration of their studies.
    A Student Residence Visa is for 12 months, renewable yearly, for students who enrol in a full-time program at ESMOD Dubai.

    WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE TO APPLY FOR A STUDENT VISA FROM INSIDE THE UAE?
    Once you have been accepted to ESMOD Dubai, cleared all academic conditions and submitted all appropriate financial documentation, your Student Residence Visa will be processed. As part of the enrollment process you will receive the required forms from ESMOD Dubai administration. The process normally takes 15-20 working days. Since visa applications undergo a security check by UAE government authorities, the process might be delayed. This is outside the control of ESMOD Dubai.

    WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE TO APPLY FOR A STUDENT VISA ENTRY PERMIT PRIOR TO MY ARRIVAL IN DUBAI?

    Students are required to enter the UAE under a tourist, visit or open visa. Once in Dubai, students need to change visa status within one month to avoid immigration fines. Students must arrange full tuition plus full visa fee payments BEFORE applying for the residency visa.

    WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DOWN-PAYMENT OF TUITION PAID UPON ENROLLMENT IF
    I DECIDE TO CANCEL MY ENROLLMENT?

    Refund of any part of the tuition fee is possible only if the visa is refused or in case of a severe accident (hospital certificate required) that leads to unfit physical conditions longer than 3 month.
 The paid sum can also be credited to the student’s tuition if re-enrolled later in the season or before the end of the academic year. Tuition will only be held a maximum of one year from receipt date in this case. The registration fee is non refundable.

    WHAT HAPPENS TO THE TUITION FEES PAID IF I DECIDE TO DROP THE COURSE?

    There is no refund of tuition fee when a course is dropped.



    WHAT BUDGET SHOULD BE ALLOWED FOR SUPPLIES?

    For the Bachelor Fashion Design program, a budget of approximately 8'000 AED should be planned
 for equipement purchased at school. The ESMOD patented methods, 2 French couture busts and specialized pattern making supplies.
    Students must be equipped with a laptop with original versions of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator 
& Photoshop installed for software learning.
    Be aware the “practice cotton fabric” is not included in the fees and may be purchased from ESMOD administration, “final fabrics” are at the discretion of each student.
